Spring… it’s the perfect time to deep clean, declutter, tend to landscaping and also revamp your house paint. If you’re thinking about refreshing the look of your house you’re probably waffling between color ideas. From neutrals to warms and cools to trendy shades, it can be very difficult to nail down the right color that you can live with (literally)!
If you are painting the exterior of your house, it’s a good idea to look that the colors within other elements of your house. Brick, a rock chimney or shingle color can make a difference. Make sure to pick a shade that doesn’t clash with these elements that you cannot change.
Another thing to take into consideration is your neighborhood. Although you can ultimately do whatever you want (if it isn’t against your HOA), do consider what would be complementary to the other homes around you. You can still stand out… possibly through accent colors.
Consider your landscaping. If you are set within a heavily wooded area, as many in our Asheville and Hendersonville aarea are, a green or brown paint color might get lost. Inversely, if you don’t have much in the way of landscaping, you have no buffer to a bold or bright color.
Whatever you decide to do, remember that it is always a good idea to test first. Painting a bit of the color near your trim and accents will help you see if it’s what you really want before you go too far.
